The Pharmacy department has extensive knowledge and experience in formulating
a wide variety of compounds for dosing and is the hub of the safety testing
operation at HLS. The receipt and issue of all test substances and formulations
occur within Pharmacy and we also have extensive experience working in liaison
with customs and excise in dealing with controlled drugs.
Compound can be formulated either as dietary supplements or as solutions or suspensions or may also be administered in capsule form for oral administration or as sterile solutions for intravenous use.
Pharmacy also can provide long term storage of test materials or formulated products.
The department has unrivalled experience in the formulation and analysis of
novel compounds in solid, semi- solid and liquid dosage forms. Combined with
Formulation Chemistry it offers a fully integrated formulation preparation and
analysis service to all the UK sites of HLS. Pharmacy has the capacity to work
up 10 litres for liquids 20 kg for solids and 5-8 litres for semi solids on
a per batch basis.
- Extensive experience of activities associated with import, export, receipt
storage and return of test materials including the packaging and shipping
of formulations
- All consignments are despatched fully compliant with IATA Regulations
- All controlled substances are held and used in line with Home Office Guidelines
- Transfer and verification of existing client specific formulation
- Preparations of formulations using aseptic technique for dosing injections
- Method development, technology transfer and pre-study formulations (homogeneity and stability trials) for analysis
- Extensive experience with capsule filling with the typical size ranges from 000 to12
- Extensive experience in the manufacture of lactose inhalation blends
