Since 1952, Huntingdon Life Sciences has been a global innovator amongst contract research organisations. Their services originated in the U.K. and were initially focused on nutrition, biochemical and veterinary sciences. Over the past five decades, Huntingdon Life Sciences has expanded across continents and research objectives.

Keeping up with consumer needs of the late ‘50s, this leading company began exploring pharmaceutical, bio-pharmaceutical, crop protection, and industrial chemical protection. Today, through safety assessment services, Huntingdon Life Sciences is devoted to setting the standard within the research industry. Expertise in technological, scientific, regulatory, and ethical standards has taken Huntingdon Life Sciences into a new era.

Huntingdon’s current developmental research on products uses different research methodologies including computer modelling, cell cultures, in vitro (or test-tube) techniques, as well as the use of laboratory animals. Our role is to work closely with our customers to help bring their breakthroughs in human and animal medicines and eco-friendly agricultural and industrial chemicals to market. Huntingdon positively impacts life and nature.

The use of animals in research remains essential, and Huntingdon is devoted to the highest standards of animal welfare but also uses alternatives whenever possible. Within 30 years, their annual animal use has shrunken to half of previous amounts.

More recently, Huntingdon has tested numerous medicines that can affect the everyday world of many patients. Over the last 20 years, some of these new drugs include antibiotics, anti-cancer treatments, Alzheimer’s and dementia medications, vaccines, anti-hypertensives and anti-Parkinson's medicinal treatments.

For 12 years, Huntingdon has collected their pharmaceutical and crop protection knowledge to better the practices within its industry. Through their agrochemical and chemical journals, Developments in Life Sciences, a body of research is available for scientists to access across the globe.

Scientific developments are dependent on Huntingdon’s latest and efficient processes, automated and robotic technologies allows for more accurate, reliable, and timely data collection. These technologies also create fewer waste materials. Another current procedure includes small particle analysis using lasers that cut out steps and meet many worldwide regulations. Huntingdon is also improving its radiosynthesis services. Huntingdon’s team of radiochemists creates a climate for high quality work at lower prices.
